Welcome

The 10th edition of TheoBio (2026) welcomes you to Funchal, Madeira Island, Portugal, from 18–22 October 2026. This meeting continues a proud tradition of successful editions in Cetraro (2023), Donostia (2017), Cagliari (2015), Gothenburg (2013), Funchal (2011), Roscoff (2009), Cetraro (2007), Örebro (2005), and Donostia (2003).

TheoBio 2026 will cover a broad spectrum of topics in theoretical biophysics and theoretical & computational biochemistry/biology. The program features state-of-the-art lectures by leading theoreticians, complemented by selected experimental contributions to foster meaningful dialogue between theory and experiment.

Young researchers and advanced graduate students are especially encouraged to take part and present a poster.

Venue & travel

TheoBio 2026 will be held at Hotel Meliá Madeira Mare, a 5-star oceanfront hotel in central Funchal, Madeira (Portugal), within walking distance of the city center, major attractions, and numerous restaurants. Madeira’s year-round mild climate, dramatic Atlantic scenery, and warm hospitality make it ideal for enjoying scenic walks and breathtaking views during your stay.

Funchal is served by Cristiano Ronaldo Madeira International Airport (FNC), with frequent flights across Europe and easy worldwide connections via Lisbon and other hubs. Taxis run from the airport to the hotel at any time.

Presenting your work

We welcome poster submissions, especially from PhD students and postdocs. Registration and abstract submission will be opening soon.
